Oslyabya (Russian: Ослябя) was the second of the three Peresvet-class second-class pre-dreadnought battleships built for the Imperial Russian Navy at the end of the nineteenth century, although construction delays meant that she was the last to be completed.

The ship was part of the Second Pacific Squadron sent to the Far East during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–05, and served as the flagship of Rear Admiral Baron Dmitry von Fölkersam. HMS Niobe was a ship of the Diadem class of protected cruisers in the Royal Navy. She served in the Boer War and was then given to Canada as the second ship of the newly created Naval Service of Canada as HMCS Niobe

Charles Martel was a pre-dreadnought battleship of the French Navy built in the 1890s. She was laid down in April 1891, launched in August 1893, and completed in June 1897.

USS Alabama (BB-8) was an Illinois-class pre-dreadnought battleship built for the United States Navy. She was the second ship of her class, and the second to carry her name.

Her keel was laid in December 1896 at the William Cramp and Sons shipyard, and she was launched in May 1898. She was commissioned into the fleet in October 1900. HMAS Kanimbla (II) was one of two former United States Navy (USN) Tank Landing Ships purchased by the RAN to bolster its amphibious capability. As USS Saginaw, she first entered service in the USN on 23 January 1971. Saginaw was one of the 1179 Class Tank Landing Ships designed to replace post World War II LSTs.

Saginaw was launched on 7 February 1970, and commissioned on 23 January 1971 at Long Beach, California. After completion of shakedown training, Saginaw joined the Atlantic Fleet on 18 August 1971, as a unit of COMPHIBLANT. Named after Saginaw county, Michigan, she was the second US Naval Ship to bear the name.
